Google Chrome (Mac): Error 12

During the last few weeks, Google Chrome can't be update, giving the following error:
Update server not available (error: 12)
I managed to solve it, so now I have the latest version and the update system works without giving any error. There may be a simpler solution, but that's how I got it solved, without losing any extensions or thumbnails of the New Tab page:
  1. Uninstall Google Chrome. I did this step with the AppCleaner free tool, so if you uninstall it in another way I'm not sure if all this will work. Anyway I definitely recommend AppCleaner for your daily life as it cleans very well all files related to the applications you want to uninstall.
  2. Install Google Chrome Beta. You can find this beta version by clicking here.
  3. Update Google Chrome. I selected the menu option Chrome > About Google Chrome, and then I clicked on Update now (with this beta version I've had no problem updating, I hope you either.)
  4. Uninstall Google Chrome Beta. As first step, with AppCleaner.
  5. Install the latest version of Google Chrome. The latest version can be found by clicking here.
And that's all. I hope this solution works for everyone! I remind you that you do all this at your own risk. In my case I didn't lost any data, only the history pages. I recommend you do a backup of your bookmarks and any information that you mind losing.

Operating System: Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4
